Every morning and early evening a blue jay comes and hangs out on the oak tree. Penelope likes to watch the bird as it sits on the branch.
Winston, who actually needs to go to preschool, often needs convincing and is always running late. Penelope, who doesn't go to school, gets ready on her own.
Penelope likes to feed her dolls whatever she eats. This weekend she shared her yogurt with her doll and helped me make a new dress for it.
A bath was needed to get all the yogurt off of both of them.

When Winston learned that it was Ai's birthday he insisted on baking her cake. While making the cake he kept getting angry at dad for wanting to 'taste' the mixture. Winston added the frosting and chose the candles. Penelope's contribution was to help Ai blow the candles. I think she thought it was her birthday again.
Unfortunately we didn't have powder sugar so I looked online for a cake frosting recipe without it. Much to my surprise I found one. It was not good at all but the cake was good.
Winston instead sat and watched the rain and ate pepperoni.
Penelope collected acorns and then decided to cook for the squirrels. She even remember to add salt and pepper.
After she was done cooking for the squirrels she decided that Winston's tricyle needed a washing. She starting 'washing' the tricyle with mud. Winston objected but Penelope insisted on cleaning the tricycle.
While I helped Winston clean his tricycle Penelope found and put on her rain boots. She then asked to go to the coffee shop but eventually settled for slices of watermelon.
After her bath she asked for a sliced apple. I thought was going to eat them but she had other plans. She said she was going to cook them for the birds.
Penelope celebrated her second birthday today with a big piñata . She requested a piñata two weeks ago and has been practicing the Spanish song ever since we told she could have one.
"Dale, dale, dale,/Hit, hit, hit,
No pierdas el tino,/Don’t lose your aim,
porque si lo pierdes/Because if you lose it,
pierdes el camino/You lose the way.
Dale, dale, dale,/Hit, hit, hit,
No pierdas el tino,/Don’t lose your aim,
Mide la distancia/Measure the distance
Que hay en el camino" /That’s on the way.
She's a strong, sweet, and feisty girl who is constantly talking. We are so honored to share our days with her.
The kids go through phases where they like to wear the crown around the house. Winston insists that he is the king of the household; dad is the prince.
