Doing homework with her mariachi hat
And now doing homework with her Cal baseball hat
We made pomegranate juice using the pomegranates from our tree.
Making apple sauce using the apples from our neighbor's yard. We finally found an apple tree to replace the one that died.
This year we got olives from two of our olive trees. The kids and I picked them and cured them. It was a lot more work than I expected.
We picked nearly 8 pounds of olives.
Harvesting the corn
We grilled it, added to salads and made a variation of this soup.
Adding coffee to her blueberry and raspberry plants. Our strawberries produce so much fruit that we couldn't keep up with the plants. The blackberries were amazing.
Checking on our citrus trees.
Our lime and lemons trees produced more fruit than we can use. I will be researching ways to use for next year.
Winston and Penelope made their first batch of paletas and they came out very good.
Trying a new pair of sunglasses.
This is what Penelope has been doing with the California Poppies that grow in our front yard.
Penelope enjoys making flower arrangements with the flowers from our garden. For the past month she has used the tulips, crocuses, and daffodil that they planted a couple years ago. This week she decided to use the different varieties of lavender growing in the front yard along with California Poppies and rosemary.
Pictures of Penelope playing in the backyard and looking for oranges to pick.
This year Penelope ate less snow
When the instructor wouldn't let her go down the bunny hill on her own she got mad.

Penelope and Winston continue to listen to the Nutcracker song every night for at least one hour. They get an excellent workout reenacting the battle (video) between the mouse king and the nutcracker.
Penelope wanted to make Mexican hot chocolate but instead opted for eating just the chocolate bar.
Winston and Penelope enjoying a nice meal in our clean backyard. My dad was up visiting and did a major clean up of our front and backyard with some help from Andy and my brother-in-law. The weeds are gone but unfortunately we are not having any nectarines or peaches this year. The trees have a fungal diseases, Taphrina deformans, which is causing the fruit to fall off the tree.
Penelope insisted on wearing her googles while she ate an entire box of blueberries. Unable to see she dropped the box of blueberries three times and then cried when she discovered that Winston was under the island eating her berries.
Penelope had more fun eating the snow than skiing.
