This summer we are participating in the "Celebrate Urban Birds" program organized by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. They'll send you a free kit in exchange for ten minutes of observing birds and submitting your results. Winston and Penelope enjoyed their first bird watching session this weekend at Central Park.
We also got around to hanging the bird house that Winston painted at one of the parties that he attended recently.
On Saturday Winston and I go to the local farmer's market while Dad stays home with Penelope. Winston always remembers to take his Bolga Basket for his fruits. It's a small natural grass basket made by artists in a small village in Ghana. The handles are wrapped in leather, making it comfortable for him to carry it. He also uses this basket to collect leaves, rocks and pine cones.
The first thing that he wants us to buy are his strawberries which he immediately puts in his basket. After buying his strawberries I am free to buy whatever I need. As we walk by stands he looks for other fruits to add to his basket. The last two weeks we've been buying blueberries and the weeks before that it was raspberries, tangerines, oranges, apricots and peaches.
He will also request to buy other vegetables but those go in a plastic bag and after sometime he hands them to me to put them in my bag. This weekend, he bought a red bell pepper, broccoli and some yellow corn.

It was another hot today in the Bay Area. Winston used his PlaySilk to cover his face while standing very close to the AC.
Playsilks are wonderful "toys." When we go out for walks he puts one around his neck or on a pole to watch it fly in the wind. In the house he finds endless ways to play with it. I can't believe how much entertainment a simple piece of cloth can bring to a toddler.
The drums are a birthday present from his aunt.

We recently purchased an 'SUV wagon' for Winston & Penelope. They both love riding in it. Winston will actually sit in and just play.
Every once in awhile Winston will put himself in the jumparoo and begin jumping just like Penelope.

This weekend was very busy for Winston and I. We washed the car, went hiking, played lots of tennis and soccer, pushed Penelope around in the tricycle, did some work on the lot and even had time to watch the Cars movie.
