Rainy Day
It's been raining a lot in the Bay Area and we've had to get creative about entertaining ourselves without too much TV. We’ve been doing a lot craft projects, watching the squirrels and birds fight for the seeds we put out on the apple tree and taking walks around the neighborhood.
This weekend we went out for a walk around our neighborhood looking for the squirrels that were nowhere to be found. We did find a very fast stream near the sewer line by our house. Both Penelope and Winston had a lot of fun collecting leaves and dropping them in the stream. Winston was counting to see how many seconds it took for the leave to reach the sewer while Penelope was intrigue that some of her leaves/sticks and acorns would not move. They had way too much fun and were sad to leave.

Grocery Shopping
Winston likes to go grocery shopping. He will go and gab a grocery bag and ask that we go to "Whole Foods." This weekend it was raining but that didn't stop him. He ask to put on his vest, hat and shoes and then proceeded to find the grocery bag and an ATM card. I took a picture of him as we were ready to leave the house.

Doing Laundry
We recently got a new front loading washer. Winston at first found it scary but now has begun to help me with the laundry. He loads and unloads the laundry for me often commenting on the items. This week he has been asking to pour the detergent. I am sure that in a few weeks he will view this as a chore and I will have to beg him to come and help.

Mexican Sweet Bread (Conchas)
When Winston can't get chocolate chip cookies from one yaya he asks the other for 'pan' (Mexican Sweet Bread). My mom was visiting for the last two weeks and Winston ate at least one of this daily. It's a good thing that they aren't really sweet.

Giants vs Dodgers
Last Sunday Winston went to the Giants game with yaya and his aunt Maribel. After the game Winston went down to the field and ran the bases along with other kids. He even got a chance to hang out with the team mascot.

Batting Glove
Along with his helmet Winston got an x-small batting glove. He likes to put it on before starting his baseball practice. He also has a golf glove and amazingly knows the difference between the two.
The last couple nights he has been eating his dinner with his glove on.

Baseball Outfits
Lately Winston only wants to wear his baseball outfits. On Tuesday he went to his toddler camp and a kid came up to him and touched his shorts which have a baseball logo on it and he freaked out. He kept saying 'don't touch, don't touch' something he learned from his English Pocoyo cartoon.
Oh by the way, before going to his camp he dug through his dirty laundry to find the shorts. His nanny didn't want to put them on but he won't stopped whining. He went around the house trying to take off his clean jeans and saying 'baseball shorts' until she finally gave in. She hated his outfit because it didn't match. Then at night he wouldn't take a bath because he didn't want to take off his baseball shorts or shirt.
After his bath he insisted on wearing baseball shirt.
Around Christmas he only wanted to wear his tractor clothes so I guess this phase will end soon too.

Monterey
On our way back from our mini vacation to Monterey, CA where we stayed at a wonderful hotel located very close to downtown and Old Town area. From Hotel Pacific we were able to walk to many of the Monterey attractions.
Winston and I also had a chance to explore Pacific Grove's gorgeous shoreline. We stopped at Lovers Point Park for lunch. The view of the coast is gorgeous from here. Winston hit some golf balls from here and played catch with me.
On Tuesday night Andy's company rented out the entire Monterey Aquarium which included access to all the galleries and exhibits. Winston spent over three hours running around the aquarium counting fishes.

Driving Range
On the weekends we sometimes go the coffee shop near us and pass by a golf shop. Winston always wants to go in and sometimes we will stop by and let him walk around especially if the store empty. A couple weeks ago the owner told us that he could get us a toddler golf club set which includes a wood, iron and putter for a very good price. Since Winston is outgrowing his plastic set we decided to order one.
After getting the clubs we took him to the driving range to test them out. He enjoyed hitting ball but had a difficult time understanding that he couldn't go and collect the ball after hitting it. As his basket started getting low on balls he started hoarding them. Getting him to leave the golf course proved to be very difficult and eventually we ended up picking him up and taking to the car.
The clubs are slightly heavy for him but he is slowly getting used to the extra weight.

Winston fell asleep listening to a baseball game. Lately he has been skipping his daily nap. He will go two to three days without his nap and then on the fourth day he will take a two to three hour nap.

Picture of the Week
Winston got a bad haircut so there won't be pictures added until his hair grows a little. In the meantime, here's an update of what he is up to:
1. Glove: In addition to the baseball cap, Winston has noticed that baseball players have gloves. He asks daily for 'hand baseball' and points to his hand.
2. Caca: Winston sometimes will say "caca" instead of "pupu" to tell us that he needs to use the potty. His nanny considers 'caca' to be a vulgar word and tells him not to say it. Unfortunately, this makes him want to keep saying it. As soon as she tells him "we don't say that word, we say pupu" Winston will loudly say "caca, caca" multiple times.
3. Four: When his goldfish died he was devastated. Soon after yaya came to visit and bought him another goldfish and four tetras. We had no choice but to get him an aquarium. He loves to feed the fishes and has to say good night and good morning to them every day. He is also very good about remembering to feed them. Two days ago one of the tetras died. We took the fish out before Winston saw it floating and hoped that he wouldn't notice. Soon after he woke up he came to feed the fishes and noticed that there was one missing. He kept saying "four, four, four" fishy and kept looking for the other.

Special Hat
This weekend anytime Winston used the toilet he wanted to wear this hat that he made a while ago in his art class. Most of the decorative items have fallen off but he still likes it.

Every morning Winston wakes up ready to play sports. He feeds his fishes and then wants you to toss the ball so he can bat. This Friday he was ready to play by 7:30 am.
Oh, and he has noticed that baseball players wear baseball caps so now when he bats he wants to wear one too.

Winston loves to sit on his John Deere Mini Loader and scoop imaginary dirt. Of course, he carries his golf or baseball everywhere.
He also likes to watch Pocoyo or baseball games on the computer. When he wants to watch them he jumps on the couch and takes over the mouse trying to start the videos.
Winston spends hours playing either baseball or golf in the house. He is constantly asking you to pitch to him and then runs to the kitchen door, which he considers first base, even when he doesn't hit the ball. Sometimes he gets really into it and will slide to the base.
